The Instituto de Ecología Litoral has sent the Calpe City Council the annual report on the state of the seagrass meadows on the beaches of Calpe and it is clear that the Arenal-Bol, Fossa and Cantal Roig beaches, from which samples have been taken and analysed, are in good condition.
The City Council for Education organizes one more year workshops for children to facilitate the reconciliation of work and family life during this time.
On 23, 24, 26, 27, 30 and 31 December 2019 and on 2 and 3 January 2020, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., it organises a Christmas workshop at the Colegio Público Oltà, especially for working parents, to give their children the opportunity to live together and have fun during these days.
Yesterday's agenda included the election of a new Justice of the Peace. During the vote, Juan Santos, who had previously been a justice of the peace, was re-elected with 11 votes in front of the former Bernardo Moll city councilor with 9 votes. Dominica Lafuente received only one vote.
In a second vote for the election of the substitute peace judge, there was a draw between Bernat Banyuls and Bernardo Moll, so that the result is forwarded to the Supreme Court to examine what needs to be done in this case.
The plenary session of the city council approved the 2020 budget with a total of € 40,249,500 (+2% vs. the previous year).

The INE has informed the city of Calpe that the municipality has 22,725 inhabitants according to the census of 1 January. This means that the municipality has 1,092 new inhabitants. To reach this number and to avoid the decrease of the census requires a lot of work of the town council.
Calpe City Council launched a new communication channel with citizens through Telegram two weeks ago. The response has been better than expected exceeding 400 subscribers in just two weeks despite that this instant messaging service is less used than others like WhatsApp.
The City Council also launched an information service through WhatsApp mailing lists but the announcement by the company that from December 7 will prohibit its use to disseminate mass content has led the City Council to opt only for the use of Telegram.
Next Thursday, December 5th at 9 pm, Lolita Flores will perform "La fuerza del cariño" in the auditorium of the Casa de Cultura de Calpe. In this play Luis Mottola, Antonio Hortelano and Marta Guerras will perform under the direction of Magüi Mira.
"La fuerza del cariño" is a version of Larry McMurtry's novel (1975), based on the theatrical adaptation by Dan Gordon. Lolita slips into the skin of Aurora, the protagonist of this dramatic comedy that confronts her maturity and the setbacks of life with a sense of humour and irony.
