Calp City Council, through the Education Council, has installed CO2 meters and air purifiers in the four local schools and Silene d'Ifac kindergarten during the Christmas holidays. These measures are intended to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in the classrooms.

The CO2 meters make it possible to sound an alarm if a room is not properly ventilated, putting teachers or pupils at risk. They are therefore particularly useful during this period of low temperatures, when the cold forces the windows to be closed.

Calp City Council has allocated a total of 632,636.83 euros in aid to different areas of the city to mitigate the economic impact caused by the pandemic. The aid was provided as part of the Plan Resiste, which considers several lines of subsidies.

In this sense, the first line of aid, aimed at people with fewer resources, has amounted to 282,736 euros, from which 1,101 families have benefited. This was to cover basic needs such as food, hygiene and pharmaceutical products.

Esperanza P.M., a 104-year-old resident of La Saleta de Calp, was the first person to be vaccinated against COVID-19 in the city.

Vaccination against the coronavirus began this morning in Calp. Esperanza, born in December 1916, is the oldest person in the old people's home. After her, head of the home, David Barraca, received the vaccine.

During the day, 232 people will be vaccinated, both residents and staff of the old people's home. In the coming weeks, the vaccination will continue in the other two old people's home in the municipality: La Colina and Domus Vi.

Last Saturday, 26 December, the local police of Calp were alerted to a person lying on the ground in La Pinta street without a pulse. The officers on duty went to the scene and started resuscitation efforts on an unconscious woman.

In addition, a patrol car went to the health centre to pick up medical personnel and bring them to the scene, while the bouncer initiated the appropriate protocol.

Calp gave final approval today in a plenary session to the 14 investments that will be financed with a total of 4,178,125 euros from the surplus of the municipal treasury. The proposal of the socialist councillor faction, which proposes to replace these investments with others, was also discussed.

Calp Municipality has purchased 18 bulletproof vests this year 2020, which together with the waistcoats purchased in the previous two years, will equip the entire workforce with this protective material.

A total of 309 students from IES Ifac participated in the gender violence prevention workshops organised online by the Equality Department.

The workshops were aimed at 4th year secondary school students as well as high school students of science, humanities and social sciences and were made possible thanks to the collaboration with Ifac High School.
