Title: Meeting with the fishing sector. Posidonia Oceanica Action: replanting Posidonia Oceanica meadows in the Mediterranean
The aim of the meeting is to raise awareness of the objectives and actions of Acción Posidonia, as well as the ecological and socio-economic benefits associated with the restoration of Posidonia oceanica seagrass beds.
More than just an informative event, it is intended to be a space for dialogue and exchange that recognises the essential role of the fishing sector in marine conservation. Fishermen, as actors who work directly in the environment, contribute in-depth knowledge of the environment and play a key role in the success of the work of harvesting, replanting and monitoring the seagrass beds.
The initiative highlights how responsible fishing practices and the active collaboration of the sector not only contribute to preserving Posidonia, but also strengthen the sustainability of fishing itself. This meeting aims to consolidate this alliance and promote a shared vision of the future: a healthier sea and more resilient fishing.
Acción Posidonia has the support of the Biodiversity Foundation of the Ministry for Ecological Transition and Demographic Challenge, through the Pleamar Programme, and is co-financed by the European Union through the EMFF (European Maritime, Fisheries and Aquaculture Fund). It is a complementary action to the LIFE-IP INTEMARES project.
