The Ajuntament Vell Exhibition Hall, stands on the site occupied by one of the historical gates of the old walled enclosure, popularly known as “el Portalet”, a defensive door on a bend that closed the Church Square as a citadel and last bastion. in case the enemy assaults the first wall. Demolished in 1923, a building was erected in its place (the one we currently contemplate) that between 1926 and 1974 carried out the functions of City Hall and judicial offices; and between 1996, until its transfer in 2013, it housed the municipal Archaeological Museum. After an aesthetic change in its interior and facade, the Vell Town Hall continues its journey as a space for cultural uses, especially dedicated to the exhibition of contemporary art samples.
